What is a corporate brunch?

Updated on

A mid-morning company meal, halfway between breakfast and lunch, with sweet and savoury dishes, for meetings, teams or clients.

A corporate brunch is a mid-morning company meal, between breakfast and lunch, that combines sweet and savoury dishes in a relaxed format. It can be served standing or at tables, usually lasts one to two hours and works well for team meetings, presentations and client get-togethers.

What is served

A cross between breakfast and a light lunch: pastries and fruit, toasts, mini sandwiches, Spanish omelettes, eggs, yoghurts, salads, a hot dish or two, plus coffee, juice and water. Compared with a working breakfast, there is more savoury, more filling food.

When it works

  • A morning team meeting or quarter-end.
  • A mid-morning presentation or launch with clients.
  • An event that should feel more relaxed than a breakfast but less formal than a lunch.

How it differs from other formats

  • Unlike a coffee break, which is a short, light pause, a brunch is a meal in its own right.
  • Unlike a welcome coffee, which greets attendees, a brunch is the event itself.
  • Unlike a working lunch, which is eaten while you work, a brunch invites people to stop and talk.
  • If you need something more substantial, look at a buffet.

Approximate quantities

There is no set benchmark. As a starting point, take the working breakfast quantities in our price guide (about 200 pieces for 50 people) and add savoury dishes depending on the length and time of day. Treat it as a rough guide.
