A live food experience
María Lluch Catering offers a live food experience for your event in Madrid and the surrounding area. Our chefs cook live in front of your guests, with a clear speciality: Mexican and Peruvian food made on the spot. Tell us where you would like it and we will say in the proposal whether the space fits.
Turn your event into a culinary show where our chefs prepare dishes live, combining technique, creativity and flavour. All you have to do is enjoy it with your guests.
It works just as well for a company event as for a private celebration, and you can combine it with the rest of our corporate catering. Behind the business is María Lluch Careaga, who founded it in late 2019; meet María. Tell us how many of you there will be and the date, and request information.
Cooking in full view of your guests
With live cooking, dishes are finished and served in front of your guests instead of arriving already plated. The chef cooks, explains what they are doing and serves on the spot, so the food stops being a formality and becomes part of the show. Three things set it apart from conventional catering.
- The cooking happens in front of your guests, with the ingredients and technique on show.
- Guests can interact: they can talk to the chef, ask questions and see the ins and outs of the cooking up close.
- Each dish is served at its best, freshly made, because it has not been sitting on a tray.
For the different types and how to plan one, see our guide on how to organise a live cooking event.
Mexican and Peruvian cuisine, live
We specialise in Mexican and Peruvian food: tacos made to order, fresh ceviches, aguachiles and much more. Every dish is made with quality ingredients, true to the traditional recipes but with an innovative touch. Your guests see it, smell it and taste it on the spot.
If you are looking for Mexican catering in Madrid for your company or your celebration, live cooking is how we do it.
This is food that really shines when it is cooked live: colourful, fresh and made for sharing. Guests gather round the station, and watch each taco being put together or the ceviche being prepared. The conversation takes care of itself.
| Cuisine | What you will see cooked live |
|---|---|
| Mexican | Tacos made to order and aguachiles |
| Peruvian | Fresh ceviches and other Peruvian dishes |
If your group prefers another style, we also do live cooking with Mediterranean food (tapas, rice dishes and traditional flavours with a modern twist), Asian (sushi made live, steamed bao and wok dishes), Italian (fresh pasta made live and antipasti stations) and a vegetarian option with fresh, creative dishes. We adapt each show to the theme of your event.
For companies and team building
Live cooking for companies swaps the usual lunch for something your team will remember: a corporate event, a product presentation, a team lunch or an end-of-quarter get-together where the food gets everyone talking. Tell us where it will be and we will set it out in the quote.
Live cooking as team building
Live cooking works as food-based team building because it brings people together around something to watch, taste and talk about: everyone goes up to the chef, asks questions and shares a table with colleagues they may not see every day. Unlike a cookery class, the focus here is the food experience, not learning a recipe or competing.
It is a lively, interactive experience led by the chef, for teams who want to have a good time together. Tell us what kind of experience you are looking for your team and we will set it out in the proposal.
For a larger corporate event, pair it with a drinks reception or a lunch: we explain how on corporate catering in Madrid. Tell us how many of you there are and which day suits you, and request information or a quote.
For celebrations
Live cooking also works for a private celebration: a birthday, an anniversary, a special dinner or a get-together with friends or family where you want to surprise your guests with something different. Nobody sits waiting for the food to arrive: they watch it being made and step up to taste it fresh.
If you are looking for a private chef for your celebration, tell us where it will be and we will explain in the quote how we would set it up. For celebrations with a drinks reception, buffet or seated meal and no live cooking, see our event catering.
How live cooking is organised
Organising live cooking is straightforward. We agree the menu and guest numbers with you, and on the day we set up the station in view of your guests and cook live. We settle the details with you.
- You tell us the date, the number of guests and the space.
- You choose the menu with us: tacos, ceviches, aguachiles or another speciality.
- We confirm the logistics: where the station goes and how we get in.
- On the day, we set up the station, the chef cooks live and we serve.
- Collection at the end.
Service area and logistics
We cover Madrid city and nearby towns (Alcobendas, Pozuelo, Las Rozas…); weekends with prior coordination. We take care of everything: transport, setup, tableware, front-of-house staff if you need them and collection at the end.
Allergens and diets
Every dish has its own allergen sheet; tell us about allergies and intolerances and we will adapt the menu. We offer a vegetarian option of fresh, creative dishes.

Where to start: Mexican or Peruvian menu
Our live cooking starts from one of two menus, Mexican or Peruvian. We then fine-tune it with you to suit the group, the space and how long the event lasts.
- Mexican menu, cooked live: tacos made to order and aguachiles, for a lively event built around sharing.
- Peruvian menu, cooked live: fresh ceviches and other Peruvian dishes, for a lighter, fresher event.
Request information and we will present the full menu.

Request information
To prepare your quote we need four things: the date, the number of guests, where it will be and the cuisine you fancy. With that, we send you a quote with the menu and terms in writing, so you can decide without any rush. We reply to your quote request within 24–48 h. We recommend requesting it at least 72 hours in advance; on high-demand dates, with more time.

Live cooking
Frequently asked questions
What is live cooking with María Lluch Catering like?
It is a catering format in which the dishes are prepared live, in front of your guests, rather than arriving ready-made. The chef cooks, explains what they are doing and serves on the spot, so the food becomes part of the entertainment and of the conversation at the event. We do it with Mexican and Peruvian cuisine.
How is live cooking quoted?
The quote depends on your event: the number of guests, the menu, how long it lasts and whether you need front-of-house staff. We take care of everything: transport, setup, tableware, front-of-house staff if you need them and collection at the end. Request information and we will reply to your quote request within 24–48 h. If you want to see how one proposal is compared with another, our [price guide](/en/catering-prices-madrid/) explains the method.
What do I need for live cooking?
Essentially, a space where the chef can set up a station in view of your guests, and easy access to bring in the equipment. We settle it with you when we prepare the quote, depending on your menu, so there are no surprises on the day.
Does live cooking adapt to the size of my group?
Yes, the format adapts to the group and the space. Tell us how many of you there will be when you request information and we will settle it with you in the quote.
Do you cook live in front of the guests?
Yes. Our chefs prepare the dishes live, in full view, and guests can chat to them, watch the technique up close and taste each dish the moment it is ready. That is exactly what sets live cooking apart from conventional catering: the cooking is part of the experience and keeps the conversation going throughout the event.
